PROJECTS
|
FEM is a project-based organization with a track record of making a direct and positive impact in the lives of rural (especially indigenous and afro) communities. Donate today to help foster ethnic development and bridge the gaps that keep things as they have always been. We innovate, cocreate and develop unique projects by following the communities' agendas, not ours.

Our Full Set Of Projects & Goals:
Culture For Development
The most precious parts of our identity are often the intangible.
Our Culture & Development projects protect cultural practices to foster understanding and respect.

Ethnic Education
We support projects that help preserve the afro and indigenous communities’ immaterial heritage, such as songs, dances, and the trades. We not only seek to raise public awareness of their traditions and practices, but we also aim to develop pride and identification with these practices within the communities to ensure that these cultures do not diminish
|
EmpowermentTo simultaneously preserve cultural traditions and reduce social and economic inequality, FEM helps communities streghthen their organizations, by building trust through the development of group projects that they lead and take through. By creating Community Banks and local projects for the new organizations to work in, we foster self motivation and new leadership.

Territorial Ownership
Many communities around Cartagena lack the basic amenities many of us take for granted.
Our Territorial Ownership projects work with communities to improve their quality of life and their capacity to negotiate their priorities

Participatory Urban Planning
We recognize the importance of bridging the gap between governmental actors, businesses, and local communities to foster understanding and respect for land rights. We have developed and implemented the Territorial Administration Plan (PAT) to connect local communities with the technical and legal resources to protect their cultural lands and territories
|
Promoting Community Pride
Afro and indigenous communities around Cartagena have a scarcity of resources, a lack of transportation, and few public spaces. FEM connects skilled University students and volunteers with these communities to develop social spaces and programs that provide a sturdy foundation for development and instill a sense of community pride
